Asylum   

My expertise in the assessment of personal injury is as a chartered clinical psychologist. Our profession involves training in behavioural science not medicine. Our basic training is normally of six years duration. I have also lectured on clinical psychology for a period equivalent to eight whole years.

Therapy aims to be informed by NICE guidelines.

Assessment of PTSD and other effects of accidents and trauma. I have assessed about 130 survivors of car accidents. Their conditions have included none, phobic anxiety, generalised anxiety, reactive depression, and PTSD.

 

Instructions are accepted as mutually agreed expert, but instructions for claimant only are also taken.

 

Assessment of war refugee and sexual assault issues in asylum-seekers

 

Some other psycho-legal questions are also taken,

e.g. possible learning difficulties in criminal proceedings

 

 

Treatment

 

 

Therapy is provided for PTSD, phobias, panic attacks, and depression. Treatment is cognitive behavioural therapy, desensitisation, exposure, guided imagery and relaxation.

Psychodynamic therapy is also provided, but only if instructed.

 

Vocational rehabilitation after prolonged sickness absence.

Psychological rehabilitation of chronic health issues, e.g. back and neck injury, headaches.

 

Fees (2005)

Reports that can be completed in one interview: £300.00

This requires the claimant to return questionnaires by post,

and the instructing agency to provide medical notes

 

Treatment is charged to the solicitor at £75.00 per hour

 

Payment period negotiable.
